Police Chief to retire Nov. 30

Friday, November 17 2017 5:04 PM

Colleyville’s Chief of Police is hanging up his badge after six years with the City of Colleyville.  Michael Holder, Police Chief and Public Safety Director, has scheduled his last day on Nov. 30, 2017.

“It has been a true blessing to serve the citizens of Colleyville for the past six years,” Holder said. “The Colleyville community is well served by the dedicated employees that provide exceptional services day in and day out.

“I am also extremely grateful to the members of the community who have supported me personally and professionally in ways too many to mention.”

Holder joined Colleyville in 2011. Under his leadership, Colleyville was annually recognized as one of the safest cities in Texas. The city saw a steady year-over-year drop in Part 1 crimes. The city’s crime rate has fallen by 52-percent since 2010. This was achieved by introducing new policing tactics and strengthening relationships with the community.

“Chief Holder was instrumental in modernizing every aspect of the Colleyville Police Department and introducing community policing, which strengthened the relationships between the citizens and police,” Mayor Richard Newton said. “Thanks to Chief Holder, Colleyville Police are not only there to keep us safe, but they are part of the community as shown by the Chief’s participation in the Colleyville Ministerial Alliance.”

Holder’s next opportunity brings him closer to home where he will serve as the assistant city manager in Kaufman, Texas. In order to fill the leadership role, the city will conduct a nationwide search for the next police chief. In the meantime, Assistant Police Chief Robert Hinton will serve in an interim role.

“I want to thank Chief Holder and the Police Department for making us one of the safest cities in Texas,” Mayor Newton said.
