The Colleyville Fire Department is dedicated to promoting safety and well-being within the community through a range of educational programs. Reach out to Karen Weir at 817-503-1400 for details or to schedule a home visit.

Pool Safety: The Colleyville Fire Department recognizes the importance of pool safety, especially in a region where pools are prevalent. This program educates residents on pool safety measures such as installing barriers, keeping watch over children near water, and learning CPR.

Smoke Detectors: Smoke detectors are crucial for early detection of fires, providing residents with precious moments to evacuate safely. The fire department offers a program to assist residents in installing and maintaining smoke detectors in their homes, along with educational materials on fire safety and evacuation plans.

Stop the Bleed: This program trains community members in basic techniques to control bleeding in emergency situations. By providing bystanders with the skills to intervene before emergency services arrive, the fire department empowers the community to potentially save lives in cases of accidents or emergencies involving severe bleeding.

CPR/AED: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training are essential skills that can greatly increase the chances of survival in cardiac arrest situations. The fire department offers regular CPR/AED training sessions to teach residents how to respond effectively in medical emergencies.

Fire Extinguishers: Proper use of fire extinguishers can prevent small fires from escalating into major disasters. The fire department conducts training sessions to educate residents on how to select, use, and maintain fire extinguishers effectively, as well as when it's appropriate to attempt to extinguish a fire versus when to evacuate and call for professional help.

Prescription Drug Disposal: Improper disposal of prescription drugs can have environmental and public health consequences. The fire department facilitates means for safe disposal to prevent drug abuse and environmental contamination.

Community/Civic Group Presentations: Engaging with community and civic groups allows the fire department to reach a broader audience with its safety messages. These presentations may cover a variety of topics, including fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and the importance of working smoke detectors and escape plans.

By offering these programs, the Colleyville Fire Department demonstrates its commitment to proactive community engagement and safety education, empowering residents to take proactive steps to protect themselves and their families from potential hazards and emergencies
