What is the Colleyville Crime Control & Prevention District (CCCPD)?
The CCCPD supports crime control and prevention programs to help keep communities safe. A common funding mechanism used by cities throughout the state, the sales tax revenue provides funding for public safety personnel expenses, operational costs, and related equipment or capital purchases. The sales tax funds collected may only be used for law enforcement purposes as outlined in the Texas Local Government Code Chapter 363.
How was the CCCPD established?
In 1999, voters approved the creation of Colleyville’s Crime Control & Prevention District allowing for the collection of a ½ cent sales tax for an initial period of 5 years. In 2003, voters renewed the CCCPD for an additional 20 year period. The CCCPD will be eligible for renewal again in 2023. If approved, the CCCPD would be authorized for another 20 year period.
Who governs the CCCPD?
The Colleyville City Council functions as the CCCPD Board of Directors. The CCCPD Board is presented and votes on a CCCPD budget annually at meetings open to the public.
What are CCCPD funds used for in Colleyville?
CCCPD sales tax monies are utilized to fund a portion of the Colleyville Police Department’s annual budget, including the following:
- 13 Police Officers
- 6 School Resource Officers
- Police vehicle replacement
- Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) software
- Weapons replacement
- SWAT training and equipment
- Crisis & De-escalation training
- Teen Court program
