The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is re-constructing the Jackson Road Bridge crossing over Little Bear Creek. The project will widen the travel lanes to 12 feet, provide the addition of 4 foot wide shoulders, and 5 foot wide sidewalks on both sides of the bridge. The re-construction will result in a full closure of the roadway at the creek crossing.
Construction Update
09/27/2024 - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is re-constructing the Jackson Road Bridge crossing over Little Bear Creek, resulting in a full closure of the roadway. The City has received several questions about project status and has reached out to TxDOT for information and updates. We've heard back from TxDOT and while activity has been limited at the project site in recent weeks, TxDOT is in the materials testing phase where project quality is reviewed before moving to the next steps. TxDOT has indicated completion would occur in early 2025. As the City receives additional updates from TxDOT on the project, we will continue to share that information.

TxDOT began work during the week of January 22, 2024. However, utility conflicts arose and they suspended work until July 2024. The updated time of completion is the beginning of 2025 depending upon weather conditions and if no further delays occur. Message boards and traffic control devices will be installed and updated, as needed, throughout construction.
