The City of Colleyville regulates the removal and preservation/protection of trees on private property.  Most construction projects like new homes, commercial buildings, expansions, and clearing/grading will require an Urban Forestry Review. The level and scope of the review depends on each situation, but the purpose is always to make sure it is in compliance with rules outlined in Chapter 5 of the Land Development Code (Urban Forestry).

Urban Forestry Review focuses primarily on four (4) items. Minimum tree preservation, minimum tree canopy cover, adequate preservation/protection of the remaining trees during construction, and mitigation for the removal of Heritage Trees.

Documents that are required to be submitted for review usually include a Tree Survey and Urban Forestry Plan.  Download the Urban Forestry Review Packet for itemized lists of what is required on each plan as well as a tree planting list and tree protection guidelines. An Urban Forestry Workbook is available to fill out and provide to us to expedite review.  If trees are being removed and are not exempt under the code, you will also need to apply for a tree removal permit online.
