Colleyville’s beautiful tree lined streets are one of the City’s most unique and special attributes, however, those trees can also cause safety concerns if they are not properly maintained.

Tree limbs hanging too low over streets and sidewalks, as well as trees and shrubs blocking visibility at street intersections, can pose a risk to drivers and pedestrians. Property owners are responsible for maintaining limb clearance for trees on adjacent street rights-of-way.  It is important to keep streets and sidewalks free of low hanging tree limbs and overgrown vegetation.

Sidewalks

For a clear and safe pathway, keep tree limbs and vegetation pruned at least 8 feet above the sidewalks.

Streets

Keep tree limbs and vegetation pruned at least 14 feet above the street and curb. This allows for vehicles such as fire trucks and ambulances, school buses, and garbage trucks to pass through safely.

Removal of City Street Trees

If a private property owner wishes to remove a tree in the public street right-of-way, then you must contact the City’s Urban Forester in Community Development to request permission.
